A tragic multi-vehicle collision has resulted in at least one fatality in the North Hills this morning, shaking the West View area, where Highland Avenue meets Cornell Avenue, a residential zone seemingly ill-prepared for such vehicular violence. According to WPXI, the scene is marked by the grave stillness of an overturned vehicle and another so grievously struck it was sheared in its middle, while police, fire, and EMS crews try to weave order from the chaos.
As sirens wailed and lights flashed, nearly a thousand people were left in sudden darkness when the power went out. Duquesne Light's website showed the scale of the outage, a reminder that the crash affected more than just the scene. The number of vehicles involved was unclear at first, but TribLive’s news partner WTAE later confirmed that at least three cars were part of the crash.
The Allegheny County Police Department is still working to figure out what happened this morning. They haven’t shared details yet about what caused the crash, who was involved, or how it all unfolded.
