Early this morning, a collision on Albemarle Road near the North Sharon Amity Road intersection in Charlotte resulted in a pedestrian’s death. Authorities said a Weatherspoon Security vehicle, marked with company insignia, was involved, according to WBTV. Its windshield was shattered, and a section of Albemarle Road was temporarily closed while Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police investigated. Crime scene tape surrounded the area as evidence was collected. Weatherspoon Security, based in Charlotte, provides services including site security and private investigations. It is not yet clear how the crash occurred or whether charges will be filed.
WCNC reported that Medic transported a person with life-threatening injuries to a hospital, though it has not been confirmed if this was related to the same incident. Residents and commuters were advised to avoid the area during the investigation.
WSOC-TV released footage showing the security vehicle with significant damage. CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is working to determine the sequence of events leading to the pedestrian’s death.
