In an age where our personal data is as precious as currency, the Cozby Library and Community Commons are stepping up to equip residents with the knowledge to safeguard their information. This Saturday, September 20, from 2 pm to 3:30 pm, the community is invited to attend a free presentation led by an FBI Special Agent, as announced on the Coppell Police Department's social media. The discussion aims to educate on the modern machinations of scams, how to spot potential threats, and how to verify information when doubts arise.
Partnered with the FBI Dallas Community Outreach, and the Community Builders, this public service event promises to shine a light on the red flags indicative of possible fraud and scams. Alongside the FBI agent, a Coppell Police Department fraud detective will be available before and after the presentation, ready to answer any concerns about local fraud crime trends, the department shared on Facebook.
As incidents of scams and identity theft grow more complex, the authorities are encouraging community members to remain vigilant and informed. While the internet has broadened our horizons, it has also paved the way for more inventive cons that prey upon unsuspecting victims. Learning the telltale signs of fraudulent schemes is now more essential than ever and can mean the difference between safety and victimization.
