The Folsom Police Department reported an arrest following an incident involving a firearm over the weekend. Last Saturday around E. Bidwell Street, and what is correctly Old Placerville Road, officers responded to a situation at Chevron where a man was seen brandishing a handgun during a confrontation with several juveniles.
According to a social media post by the Folsom Police, the quick-acting officers managed to detain the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Jacob Gelegan, without any resulting injuries. Having been found with a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, which was ironically not registered in his name, Gelegan now faces multiple charges.
Gelegan was arrested for charges including brandishing a firearm in a threatening manner, carrying a concealed weapon, and carrying a loaded firearm without being the registered owner. The Folsom Police Department highlighted the importance of the swift action taken by the involved officers, praising their commitment to ensuring safety within the community, as stated in the same social media update.
