In a recent public notice, the Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) addressed an error regarding speeding citations issued between September 4 and September 17. A total of 477 camera radar citations sent out during this period were missing critical details, including information on the registered owner, vehicle, and the nature of the violation.
According to Fort Collins Police Services, it was found that the responsible vendor, Verra Mobility, had dispatched the citations without the necessary data, sparking concerns and confusion among recipients who vigilantly screen their mail for potential scams. And then they realized the mistake, they proceeded to send out completed versions of those same citations to the implicated individuals.
The FCPS has expressed understanding of the frustrations caused by this incident and has consequently taken action. As per the public notice, the Fort Collins City Attorney's Office is dismissing all affected citations. The FCPS assures that anyone who received an incomplete citation, or the subsequent complete citation, during the specified timeframe does not have to pay the fine.
