Following a recent jury decision in Tarrant County, Johnny Edwards, a 38-year-old man, was handed down a life sentence for the murder of 24-year-old Deshon Williams. The conviction stems from a violent episode on an early Christmas morning back in 2021. According to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office, Edwards had gone to visit Williams at an apartment complex in west Fort Worth, where the fatal altercation took place.
In an act that ended a life and irrevocably altered his own, Edwards fired seven shots that struck Williams while he lounged on a couch; after committing the deed Edwards returned home, changed his clothes, then dared to return to the scene where he proceeded to steal marijuana and a PlayStation 5 from the victim, the serenity of the holiday morning disrupted by gunfire and the grim work of law enforcement following a shooting call around 10 a.m., as the Tarrant County District Attorney's office detailed.
Lead prosecutor Lisa Callaghan, alongside Stephanie Simpson, mounted the case against Edwards, with Investigator Darran Gabbert and Victim Coordinator Elizabeth Garcia playing critical roles in bringing this case to a close.
