A significant blaze engulfed part of downtown Kittanning early this morning, prompting responses from multiple fire stations. The fire, which escalated to four alarms, was reported at a building on South Jefferson Street. Firefighters from various units are working to contain the flames that appear to have originated on the building's upper floor, as reported by WPXI.
Amidst battling the fire, one such station, Ford City Hose Company, Station 90, was pinpointed as a key responder. In a statement released by officials and reported by WTAE, residents have been asked to steer clear of the area. Due to the firefighting efforts, several roads surrounding the area are currently closed.
At the street level of the affected building resides Earthbound Apothecary, a local business specializing in bath and body products. The extent of damage to the shop remains unclear, as the primary focus remains on extinguishing the fire above.
No injuries have been reported thus far in connection with the inferno, which has been steadily tackled by the dispatched crews. Updates will be provided as more information is made available by the fire department and first responders at the scene.
