The Fruitland Park Police Department is currently on the lookout for leads linked to a shooting incident that took place on a local road last Friday, inflicting injury upon a driver. As reported by ClickOrlando, the event occurred around 10:40 p.m. near the crossroads of U.S. Highway 27/441 and Register Road. The police responded to reports of gunfire and, upon arrival, discovered a 2012 black Mazda four-door riddled with bullet holes and a driver who had sustained a superficial wound.
According to the same release, two vehicles were traveling northbound on the highway when the shooting began. The assailant's vehicle, particulars of which remain unknown, was situated in the far-left lane when rounds were allegedly fired at the victim's Mazda, which was in the middle lane. The driver, who preferred to remain unidentified, was fortunate enough to only obtain a graze wound from the incident and was quickly treated and released from the hospital. The assailants were not provoked, said the passengers of the Mazda, who were unable to fully describe the suspect vehicle or its occupants.
Those with information that could potentially aid the police in their investigation are being encouraged to come forward. Encouragingly, the police urge anyone who might happen to hold any helpful details to do so by contacting them at 352-360-6655, as detailed by Inside Lake.
