An officer-involved shooting in the small town of McCaysville, Georgia, has become the focus of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The shooting, which took place close to midnight last Friday, left a local police captain wounded, prompting a state-wide manhunt for the suspect.

According to the GBI, Captain Brantley Worley of the McCaysville Police Department was responding to a service call on 1st Street when the altercation occurred. Timothy Craig Ramsey, a 26-year-old resident, allegedly opened fire, injuring Captain Worley. In his response, wearing a bright green chemical-resistant type suit and a dark-colored motorcycle helmet, the suspect, Ramsey, managed to escape the scene on foot after Captain Worley returned fire but missed.

The hunt for Ramsey escalated quickly with the GBI issuing a BLUE ALERT and roping in multiple law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. The coordinated efforts paid off when Ramsey was arrested the following day, around 6:00 p.m., last Saturday. As reported by the GBI, Ramsey currently faces multiple charges, including one count of Felony Aggravated Assault and one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, along with a firearms charge.

The GBI's investigation remains active and ongoing, as they sift through evidence and gather details of the violent encounter. The agency has called on the public for further information, encouraging anyone with knowledge about the incident to come forward. Tips can be offered anonymously via phone at 1-800-597-TIPS(8477), through their website, or by using the See Something, Send Something mobile app. Once the investigation wraps up, the findings will be turned over to the Appalachian Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for a thorough review.
