
Godley's firefighters, along with several other local departments, tackled a stubborn grass fire that erupted in the area of County Road 1010 and County Road 904. The blaze, which was swiftly moving through a heavily fuel-laden expanse, was initially responded to by Station 1 and Station 2 of the City of Godley Fire Department at 15:34 on an undisclosed date, as detailed in a social media post by the department.
The intensity of the fire warranted an escalated response, wherein mutual aid was provided by JCESD #1 Station 83 and 77, Cresson VFD, Careflite Medic 44, Rehab 288, and JCSO. The collective effort of these teams led to the fire being successfully contained, a feat that prevented it from spreading to any neighboring properties. Upon the conclusion of their operations, the affected area was estimated to be around 48 acres.
In the aftermath of the fire, the Godley Fire Department expressed its gratitude to all the mutual aid partners whose assistance was crucial in controlling the situation.
