
Mayor Marco McClendon announced that Google plans to build an AI data center in West Memphis, Arkansas, describing it as "This is the biggest investment in the state of Arkansas’ history." The project is expected to employ around 300 people, with construction creating an additional 5,000 jobs. Mayor McClendon said, "This is very big for our community," referring to the economic impact of the investment, according to FOX13 Memphis.
Entergy Arkansas confirmed its partnership with Google on the project. WREG reported that Entergy Arkansas President and CEO Laura Landreaux said, “Our work to transform the power we provide is playing a key role in enabling the vision the Governor and the General Assembly established to become a national leader in economic development for the benefit of all Arkansans.”
Google will build a new data center campus in West Memphis on nearly 1,200 acres, as detailed by Action News 5. The site will include five data centers and office buildings. Mayor McClendon said the project was in development for more than a year and will bring jobs during construction and operation.
