On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Colonel Kirk Peterson (Ret.) to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission, a role he will hold until February 1, 2031.
According to the Office of the Texas Governor website, Peterson, a 30-year U.S. Air Force veteran, previously served as deputy director of logistics, engineering, and force protection at Randolph Air Force Base’s Headquarters Air Education and Training Command. He also partners with the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce and holds degrees in communications and management.
The commission works to strengthen Texas’s position as a hub for military missions and defense-related businesses. Abbott’s office stated that Peterson’s military background and business experience make him well-suited for the position.
