The funds that were distributed stem from the generosity of those who supported the “Strait to the Heart” benefit concert, a summer event headlined by country music icon George Strait and Estancia Estates Founder Tom Cusick. The concert managed to raise over $6 million, a substantial amount dedicated solely to support the victims of Texas' floods. "The financial assistance you leave with today will help you to quickly deal with the devastation left behind by the flooding," Abbott remarked, according to the Office of the Texas Governor, signaling the immediate aim to assist in the rebuilding endeavors of the affected families.
At the recent check presentation ceremony, Abbott was not alone in his outreach efforts. Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd also joined the Governor, indicating a collaborative state effort in the relief process.
