While no injuries have been reported, the quiet night was pierced by the sound of gunfire and the sight of a "dark-colored caravan" seen making a hasty retreat towards, ʻAoʻao Street, as reported by the Honolulu Police Department. The responding officers managed to uncover evidence of the shooting, confirming the event that had shattered the calm. The subsequent investigation evolved quickly—district 5 Crime Reduction Unit officers located the caravan not long after the incident, stationed near Republican Street.
