A burglary incident in Gwinnett County turned fatal when a homeowner shot and killed a suspect yesterday morning. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the Gwinnett County Police Department responded to a call at the 2000 block of Redbark Court regarding a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, officers surrounded the house to find that the suspect had already forcefully entered through the rear of the home. As the police proceeded to cautiously move in to presumably arrest the suspect, one of the homeowners fatally shot him. Homicide detectives, along with crime scene investigators, attended the scene to conduct interviews and gather evidence.

Local residents expressed their fears following the incident. "That was very surprising," Frisia Caballero, a nearby neighbor, told FOX 5 Atlanta. "It is scary, you know, especially — it’s like — many houses away? It’s super scary." She stressed the idea that a person's home is believed to be their sanctuary. An additional neighbor, Krista Basy, cited the disturbance caused by the heavy police activity and conveyed concerns regarding the safety of children in the neighborhood.

The suspect was later identified by police this morning as 25-year-old Kylen Sunday. Additional details surrounding the suspect's history were sought by FOX 5 Atlanta, which has yet to be provided. The homeowner's actions are under investigation, and it currently remains unknown whether charges will be brought forward in relation to the shooting.

According to a report by Atlanta News First, a woman residing at the home indicated her siblings were inside the property when the suspect broke in. "I was shaking. I was very nervous. I was scared for my siblings," she said. The residence had security footage capturing the man's forced entry using a propane tank and his subsequent behavior once inside the house.
