Harris County authorities are currently piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man found alongside a local road. Last night, deputies responded to a call on Lakewood Forest Drive, near Grant Road, after a passerby spotted what they initially believed was a victim of a hit-and-run. However, further examination revealed that the man, who is in his 20s, had been shot, changing the direction of the investigation.
The discovery was made around 11 p.m., and authorities were quick to descend upon the scene. The Harris County Sheriff's Office reported to KHOU that their initial assumption was to quickly turn false. HCSO Sergeant Jason Brown said, "We're attempting to contact family, find out exactly what the circumstances were this evening, why he was here, how he ended up at this location."
According to information obtained through FOX26 Houston, after traffic units at the scene discovered the gunshot wound, homicide investigators were immediately called to take over the case. The investigation centered on the 11700 block of Lakewood Forest Drive. The Medical Examiner’s Office was also involved, following standard procedure in cases of this severity.
"We're also in the process of trying to view video from the area and see if we can find out exactly what happened," Sgt. Brown told KHOU. As yet, no suspects have been identified, nor has a motive for the shooting been established.
