Harris County homicide detectives launched an investigation after a 26-year-old woman was found dead on Monday night in the Woodland Oaks area. According to KHOU, the woman, identified as Kaylee Taylor, was discovered by an unidentified male who called 911 to report her body lying in a cul-de-sac around 10 p.m. near Woodland Oaks Drive and Shady Grove Drive.

The sheriff’s office stated that EMS and deputies confirmed Taylor's death at the scene, ruling out suicide and natural causes. While security video was lacking in the vicinity, where numerous homes have been vacated or demolished due to flooding, friends of the victim assisted in confirming her identity and explaining her presence in the area, as stated by the Harris County Sheriff's Office, as per KHOU.

Meanwhile, Click2Houston reports that authorities were called to the same location at approximately 9:15 p.m., where they discovered Taylor with at least two gunshot wounds. Around nine shell casings were found near her body, alongside a red Mercedes.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Taylor’s death is being treated as a murder. Her body was taken by the Medical Examiner’s Office, and an autopsy will be done within 24 hours to find out exactly how she died.  If you know anything about the case, call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS (8477), as reported by Click2Houston.
