For Hawaiʻi residents needing to prove their immunization status, the answer is now just a click away. The Hawaiʻi Department of Health has unveiled an online public portal where individuals, parents, and legal guardians can easily view, print, or download official immunization records.
Launched as part of the new Hawaiʻi State Immunization System (HiSIS) back in June, the secure and confidential portal is designed to streamline the process of obtaining immunization records for purposes like school, daycare, work, and travel. Healthcare providers submit the records to the HiSIS registry, which means those last-minute scrambles to get your hands on immunization documentation should be a thing of the past.
To access their records, users can visit the HiSIS Public Portal and fill in basic details including their name, birthday, gender, and contact information that aligns with what's on their HiSIS profile. In a statement made by the Department of Health, this system not only keeps individual vaccination records at the ready but also aids healthcare providers and public health officials by aggregating community immunization data.
The portal's development comes as a strategic move to simplify access to vaccination records, amidst a broader push for efficient healthcare data management, for anyone whose details don't line up as expected, the DOH instructs individuals to touch base with their healthcare provider or, if need be, to contact the DOH directly, ensuring that support is available to get everyone's records accurately into the system without cost, because your health records should not come with a price tag attached.
