Amid rising political violence in the U.S., Governor Josh Green of Hawaii addressed recent violent events, including a murder in Utah, attacks on political figures, and assassination attempts on the President. He said these "are all incidents that tell us that we must condemn all violence against one another and come together as a country to heal," according to the Office of the Governor.

Governor Green linked the events on Thursday to the current political hostility in the U.S. "The world is watching," he said, "America is better than this and we owe it to our neighbors and our children to find a way to work together peacefully, in spite of our differences and deep disagreements on many issues." He noted incidents of political violence in states from Minnesota to California and said, "We have come to accept some amount of violence against one another as though it’s normal or acceptable," declaring, "It's not normal. It's not acceptable," as reported by the Office of the Governor.

Residents and drivers are asked to avoid the area of a crash to prevent congestion and let emergency crews work safely. The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating and clearing the scene, and the incident may affect local businesses and commuters. Governor Green addressed violence in society, saying, "It is time for us to change who we are, oppose all violence against one another, and find ways to bridge our differences as fellow human beings, not as polarized adversaries," and adding, "I humbly pray that we choose to set our differences aside and find peaceful common ground together as one global community," as mentioned by the Office of the Governor.
