Heber City has officially unveiled its latest community project, the Heber City Cemetery Columbarium, and residents are invited to experience the serene new space firsthand. According to the City of Heber, an open house is slated for October 1st and 2nd, with viewing times between 11 AM and 1 PM, and again from 5 to 7 PM, followed by October 3rd from 10 AM to 12 PM and 1 to 2 PM.
The columbarium, a structure designed to house urns containing ashes of the deceased, aims to serve as a tranquil place for reflection and remembrance. In a special gesture, Heber City is offering discounted rates on niches, with a 20% discount for residents and a 10% discount for non-residents, extended through December 31. Described as a "meaningful addition to our community," the project has been highlighted for its thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship.
Key figures in the inception of this project, including Mayor Heidi H. Franco and Heber City Council Members Yvonne M. Barney, Aaron T. Cheatwood, Michael P. Johnston, Sid Ostergaard, and D. Scott Phillips, received commendations for their leadership and vision. The execution of the columbarium was credited to Architect Lane Lythgoe and Jardine / Lythgoe Construction. "Together, we have created a lasting place of remembrance and gathering for generations to come," as per the City of Heber. Additional thanks were extended to City Manager Matt Brower, Retired Parks & Cemetery Director Mark Rounds, Public Works Director Matthew Kennard, and Parks & Cemetery Foreman Brandon Puett.
