
High Point, NC is hosting an all-day Read and Go Trip on September 30, exploring the city’s history in furniture making. Inspired by Jeane Joyner’s Murder in the Market, the trip connects the novel’s setting with the city’s furniture manufacturing legacy. According to the City of Raleigh release, it highlights the High Point Market, the largest home furnishings trade show held biannually.
The tour includes stops at the High Point Visitors Center, Showplace West, the Radio Building, Market Square, and Commerce. Lunch will be at Spiros. Departure is from the Anne Gordon Center for Active Adults. The cost is $38 for residents and $53 for non-residents. Registration information is available on the city’s website.
This program combines High Point’s furniture industry history with the backdrop of Joyner’s novel, offering participants an opportunity to learn about one of North Carolina’s notable cities.
