The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred in a Valrico neighborhood last week. According to WFLA, deputies received a call around 9:22 a.m. on last Thursday from a man claiming that he “did something bad.”
When deputies arrived at the home on Crystal Carbon Way, they attempted to make contact but received no response. A follow-up call from the victim’s employer, citing several days of unexplained absence, prompted deputies to conduct a welfare check, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office release. Inside the residence, they found two bodies: the victim, who appeared to have blunt force trauma to the upper body, and the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A firearm was located next to the suspect.
Sheriff Chad Chronister spoke about the case and emphasized available support services, as reported by FOX13 News. The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay offers 24/7 assistance for those in crisis and can be reached by calling 211.
