Set to tee off with a fresh look and upgraded facilities, the Meadowbrook Golf Course is swinging back into action after nearly two years of renovations. This local favorite, first established in 1924, will open its doors to the public once again on Friday, Oct. 3, marking a new era in its storied history.
Golf enthusiasts won't have to wait long to try out the revamped course, with a special Preview Tournament planned for Thursday, Oct. 2. The four-person scramble is open to golfers willing to shell out $120 each for the privilege, and it's expected to be a hit given the first-come, first-served registration policy. For those eager to sign up, Raymond Briggs, the head golf professional at Meadowbrook, stands ready to take your calls and get your groups on the green, according to the City of Fort Worth's website.
As guests grab their clubs and pencil in their tee times, they can also partake in the celebratory reopening ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. Community leaders will grace attendees with remarks, alongside refreshments and an exclusive sneak peek at the course's redesigned layout, per the City of Fort Worth.
With the renovations, each hole at Meadowbrook, almost without exception, has been rerouted, and all greens were upgraded from the original push-up style to hybrid Bermuda. Kyle McClure, assistant director of golf and athletics for the City of Fort Worth’s Park & Recreation Department, relayed the significance of the upgrades. "The reopening of Meadowbrook marks a major milestone for Fort Worth Golf," he told the City of Fort Worth. "These improvements will provide golfers with a modern course experience while honoring Meadowbrook’s historic legacy."
