Honolulu will have moderate to breezy trade winds and brief passing showers mainly over windward and mountain areas through the middle of next week. An easterly wave moving through Oahu and Kauai is bringing increased shower activity compared to the usual pattern, according to the National Weather Service.
Drier weather is returning to the eastern Hawaiian Islands with stable clouds east of the chain, while "bands of high level cirrus clouds, made of ice crystals, will drift over the islands through Sunday." Trade winds will continue with only brief showers through Monday evening. Another easterly wave will bring more moisture and showers starting Tuesday near the Big Island and Maui, then moving to Oahu and Kauai by Tuesday night. The eastern islands are expected to have the highest chance of showers early Tuesday, as stated by the National Weather Service.
VFR conditions are expected outside showers with moderate trade winds. The National Weather Service reports, "A weak trough moving through Kauai this morning will enhance clouds and showers over Oahu and Kauai through around 18Z today." A Small Craft Advisory is in place through Sunday morning for waters near Maui County and the Big Island. South shores will see a slight rise in surf from a small south swell, north shores will have a modest swell, and east shores will see trade wind waves. Fire weather concerns remain low with dry conditions and winds below critical levels.
