A swift response by the Honolulu Fire Department quenched a blaze at Bellows Air Force Station, according to a department release. The fire engulfed a small, shed-like structure and was swiftly brought under control late last Saturday night. No injuries were reported in the incident that required the deployment of 22 personnel across six units.
The call to emergency services came through at 11:49 p.m., and within five minutes, the first responders were at the scene on Tinker Road, where they found the structure emitting smoke. Once the fire was under control by 11:57 p.m, it took the team just two more minutes to fully extinguish the fire.
Ensuring the safety of potential occupants, HFD conducted thorough searches of the premises. They confirmed that the building was unoccupied during the incident. The response team not only tackled the flames but also secured a water supply swiftly, showcasing a well-executed fire attack strategy.
As the embers cooled, the fire department began "an investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates," as per the HFD official report.
