An incident in Ewa Beach has led Honolulu authorities to launch an attempted murder investigation after a woman was shot multiple times last night. According to a social media post by the Honolulu Police Department, the police responded to the parking lot of Kapilina Beach Homes on the 5100 block of Iroquois Avenue around 8:05 PM after a report of an argument. An altercation between a 24-year-old female and a 31-year-old male escalated to violence, with the male suspect firing multiple rounds from a long gun at the victim, who managed to find refuge in a secured area. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported in critical condition to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.
As mentioned in the same police report, the suspect retreated to his vehicle after the assault and was found deceased with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The HPD has confirmed that the victim and the suspect were known to each other. They also corrected an earlier statement, clarifying that the event took place in a parking lot, not at a residential location as previously stated. As the police continue to investigate the events, they have called upon the public to come forward with any information by contacting CrimeStoppers or visiting any police station.
News outlets, including KHON2 and Hawaii News Now, provided additional details about the incident. KHON2 reported that Honolulu EMS treated the 24-year-old female at the scene before she was transferred to an emergency room for her gunshot injuries. They also noted that there is currently no danger to the public at this time, signaling that the situation was contained.
