In the early hours of September 26, Honolulu streets witnessed disorder as two individuals were arrested for damaging parked vehicles and assaulting a law enforcement officer. The suspects, aged 31 and 19, were apprehended at Beretania Community Park after a description led officers to their location following reports of property damage around 'A'ala Street and North Kukui Street, the Honolulu Police Department released details on their official Facebook page.

 

What ensued was a confrontation that saw the elder suspect lash out, with the online statement from the police recounting, "the 31-year-old suspect became disorderly. During the investigation, both suspects were handcuffed. The 31-year-old suspect then kicked an officer, causing the officer to have the wind knocked out of him and experience pain" The altercation led to an officer being hospitalized, treated for injuries described as none-life-threatening, he has since been released, marking a violent coda to what began as a late-night spree of vandalism, as stated by the Honolulu Police Department.

The damage inflicted upon one of the vehicles was assessed to exceed $2,000, substantial in nature, this led to the younger suspect's detainment for Criminal Property Damage in the Second Degree, whereas his accomplice has seen charges of Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer in the First Degree added to his disorderly conduct offense, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
