The HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division, led by Sergeant M. Barrow and Officer M. Lozano, reported that a red Dodge Charger was traveling at high speed when it hit a concrete barrier. The crash damaged the front and rear tires, with the rear tire bursting and the front tire being completely torn off. The rim scraped the concrete, causing sparks that ignited the gas tank, as mentioned by the City of Houston.

The driver of a Dodge Charger was found dead inside the vehicle. Houston police said, "The vehicle caught fire and the driver, who remained inside the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene." No other people or vehicles were involved. The driver’s identity has not been released, and the cause of the crash is under investigation, as stated by the City of Houston.
