In northeast Houston, a homeowner shot a man who was allegedly trying to break into his car around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday on Woodlyn Road. Police said the homeowner saw two men trying to enter his vehicle and confronted them with gunfire, as reported by Click2Houston.
One suspect was shot and hospitalized in stable condition, while the other was not injured. Both are facing charges for burglary of a motor vehicle, according to KHOU. The homeowner is not facing charges, as authorities say he was protecting his property.
Lt. Kham of the Houston Police Department said, “The DA’s office did accept charges on the suspects that were breaking into the vehicle for BMV and then they declined charges on the homeowner as he was protecting his property,” as mentioned by Click2Houston. The suspects were charged, and no charges were filed against the homeowner.
