Multiple bodies have been discovered in Houston’s bayous this week, prompting an active response from law enforcement. According to CW39, two additional bodies were recently found in White Oak and Buffalo Bayous, bringing the total to four for the week and 13 for the year. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances, with causes of death yet to be determined pending medical examinations.
On Thursday, a body was recovered following a report around 2 p.m. of a person seen entering Buffalo Bayou. The recovery took place near the 400 block of South Jensen Drive. FOX 26 Houston noted the unidentified nature of the deceased at the time of reporting. Earlier this week, the body of Jade McKissic, a University of Houston student who had been reported missing, was recovered.
The public has responded to the recent discoveries with heightened attention. Harris County Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen, in an interview with FOX 26 Houston, acknowledged the abnormality of such cases and emphasized the importance of letting law enforcement conduct its work. "It’s too early in the investigation." He added, "Don't rush to any conclusions," Rosen advised.
In response to recent events, Rosen advised individuals using the bayou trails to take precautions such as staying in well-lit areas at night and avoiding going out alone. These guidelines are provided as general safety measures for residents.
