Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred earlier today in Houston’s Kashmere Gardens neighborhood, resulting in the death of a driver. According to Click2Houston, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Memel Street where multiple gunshots were fired at a moving vehicle, causing the driver to eventually succumb to his wounds.
The Houston Police Department reported that after the driver was shot several time, the sole passenger in the car managed to put the vehicle in park and escape, subsequently making his way to a nearby residence to contact 911. ABC13 adds that the passenger ran a couple of blocks before making the emergency call. The driver, whose identity has not been released, tried to flee after being shot but was pronounced dead a short distance from where the attack began.
At this time, investigators are working to identify the suspect or suspects, as no description has been released. The Houston Police Department is requesting that anyone with information related to the incident come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
