San Antonio police are currently conducting an investigation following the surprising discovery of a human skull outside a local business. According to KSAT, an employee at Harrell Commercial Plumbing in downtown San Antonio encountered the skull while tending to the lawn. "I saw what looked like a dried cantaloupe or something," employee Walter Stephens recounted to KSAT. The incident took a startling turn when, upon further inspection, Stephens realized it was not a piece of discarded fruit, but rather the remains of a human.
The presence of the skull, situated near the entrance of the business on North San Jacinto Street, led to the involvement of the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. Originally thought to be an innocuous object, the discovery quickly escalated into a larger search when additional remains were found by a creek behind the premises, according to an interview published by 550 KTSA. Authorities are painstakingly working to piece together the circumstances that brought the skeletal remains to this unexpected location.
The company's vice president, Brad Harrell, stated to KSAT, "You don’t think you’re going to see a human skull, ever really." He further mused on the sobering reminder of life's unpredictability and transient nature. As Harrell and his employee both frequently walk the property, they have surmised that the skull had likely not been in its discovered location for long, sparking theories that it may have been transported there by an animal or even another person.
While the investigation is ongoing, many questions remain unresolved. The duration the remains had been at the location and the identity of the deceased are still undetermined. Found near water bowls frequently used by neighborhood dogs, the skull's placement adds another layer of complexity to the enigma.
