The Janesville community is pulling together once again in the interest of its children's safety. Coming up next Thursday, the Janesville Fire Department (JFD) and Janesville Police Department (JPD) are hosting their monthly Child Safety Seat event, aimed at ensuring that local tots travel in security and style. Certified child safety seat technicians will be on hand at Fire Station #1, located at 303 Milton Ave., from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., readied with the skills to inspect and teach parents the correct way to install and use child safety seats.

According to an announcement made by Janesville's municipality, these free-of-charge inspections typically last around 30 minutes and are offered to any parent or guardian seeking peace of mind. With no cost attached, the departments only humbly welcome donations which support the continuity of the lifesaving initiative. Parents, whilst they can walk in with their car seats, are advised to schedule an inspection appointment. This will help reduce wait times, dubbed necessary by the JFD and JPD to manage what is often a high turnout event.

To add, for families in need, the JFD has made it known that a selection of safety seats will be available. A statement on the City of Janesville official website reads, "The JFD will also have safety seats available." A gesture that not only emphasizes the community's commitment to its youngest members but also a pledge to leave no family behind when it comes to child safety on the road.

Starting at 2 p.m., and wrapping up by 6 p.m., this window of opportunity opens up a path to safer journeys for Janesville's little ones.
