Halloween spirit is gearing up in Janesville with the return of the annual Riverside Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat event. Families looking to gather sweets and treats in a festive, socially-distanced manner can mark their calendars for October 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, as reported by the Janesville City website. This car-friendly version of the Halloween tradition will see attendees driving through Riverside Park's North-End Loop, where local businesses and organizations will be waiting with decorated car trunks filled with goodies.
Organizations keen on spreading some spooky cheer can register to host a trunk at the event. As the City of Janesville Recreation Division notes, participants are required to stock their trunks with roughly "1,000 pieces of pre-packaged candy, handouts, or trinkets," ensuring that there's plenty of Halloween bounty to go around. With the event having attracted over 1,400 participants last year, a bountiful turnout is again anticipated. Local businesses and organizations can see this as an opportunity to engage with the community, albeit through their vehicle windows.
