Two individuals have been charged with a variety of offenses following a search warrant executed in Puna, according to an update from the Hawaii Island Police. Noa A.K. Lolohea, 20, of Keaau, is facing a slew of charges including firearm and drug offenses, while Kennedy Miyasato, 28, of Hilo, has been charged with hindering prosecution. Their arrests come after an incident that occurred on September 17 in Hawaiian Paradise Park, where Lolohea reportedly brandished and discharged a firearm.
Lolohea's litany of charges comprises first-degree reckless endangering, terroristic threatening, and multiple firearm-related violations, alongside accusations of theft, habitual property crime, drug offenses, and failure to appear in court. His bail was set at $241,100. Miyasato's alleged involvement led to her charge of first-degree hindering prosecution with her bail set by police at $10,000, which could indicate a lesser degree of complicity in the matter.
As per the Hawaii Island Police, the case against Lolohea stems from an altercation on September 17 where he reportedly pulled a gun and fired several shots after threatening a 38-year-old man. There were no reported injuries from this incident. Details of Miyasato's involvement suggest she may have assisted Lolohea, hindering police efforts to apprehend him.
The search warrant was carried out by the specialized Special Response Team and members from other divisions of the police department. During the investigation, two vehicles operated by Lolohea and Miyasato were recovered by police, further tying them to the offenses. Police continue to urge the public to come forward with any information related to this case, providing contact details for the Area I Crime Reduction Unit.
