King County pet owners, if your furry companion hasn't been registered yet, it's time to step up. A recent initiative named 'License for Love' is nudging residents to get their cats and dogs licensed — a move that not only helps keep track of the local pet population, but also ensures the safety of these domesticated animals. Every dog and cat over eight weeks old within the Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) area, North Bend included, should be registered.
Why bother, you ask? Licensed pets have an easier time getting back home if they end up lost, thanks to the free Ride Home Program. The tags they receive can be lifesavers in this regard. Moreover, licensing fees aren't steep and they circulate back into services such as adoption programs for pets without homes. According to a North Bend official announcement, "Pet licenses identify and protect your dog or cat if they get lost and offer other benefits, including the free Ride Home Program."
This isn't just about one place, either. RASKC covers a big chunk of King County including cities like Bellevue, Kent, and Redmond, among others. So if you're one of the many pet parents across these locations, you're in the loop for this requirement.
Getting your pet licensed is hassle-free and can be done without stepping foot outside. Just hop online and visit the RASK’s License My Pet webpage. However, if you prefer in-person service, or need to grab a coffee after completing the task, you can swing by the North Bend City Hall. It's open Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 to noon, and 1 to 4:30 p.m., and on Friday till noon.
