Following a search warrant executed on a West Knoxville residence, two individuals have been detained and a significant quantity of drugs has been recovered, highlighting an alarming ripple in the local fabric of drug activity. The Knoxville Police Department, supported by the TBI, ATF, and the 5th Judicial Drug Task Force, raided a home on Toxaway Drive as part of their clampdown on the distribution of the dangerously potent opioid fentanyl and related investigations into a pair of overdose deaths.
The operation unfolded on Wednesday, according to the Knoxville Police Department's official release. Officials sieved through the home at the 7300 block and uncovered roughly 65 grams of what is suspected to be fentanyl. In addition to the narcotics, officers found over 35 grams of what they believe to be psilocybin mushrooms, various firearms—including a stolen handgun dating back to 2022—and a sum of over $2,200 in cash.
Arrested at the scene were William Aldridge, born July 29, 1979, and Brandon Bayne, born November 4, 1988. Charges against the duo include maintaining a dwelling for drug purposes, schedule I drug violations, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence, and felony theft. Both Aldridge and Bayne were taken into custody during the execution of the search warrant, as confirmed by the police department.
The Knoxville Police Department's Organized Crime Unit, along with the Drug Related Death Task Force, continues its staunch surveillance and takedown of operations involving substances that have claimed lives and hold the potential for further tragedy.
