Heads up, Carver County kiddos and arrow-slinging aficionados, Lake Minnewashta Regional Park is all geared up to turn you into the next Robin Hood—or at least get you on target. According to the latest social media blast from Carver County Parks, there's an archery lesson workshop slated for Saturday, October 4th, that's open for youngsters aged 8 to 13, no matter if they're novices or somewhat of a pint-sized pro.
Participants are set to quickly learn—and are expected to just as quickly adhere to—the archery essentials; we're talking commands, signals, and shooting techniques. The goal here is not just to familiarize these kids with the bow and arrows but to, dare I say, split to absolutely get their aim on point. And, because who doesn't love a good challenge, they'll wrap it all up with shooting games that'll put their new skills to the test, making sure the $16 fee packs its worth in gold—or at least in bullseyes. Attendees have the option to pick a session that fits their schedule, either 10 to 11:30 a.m. or noon to 1:30 p.m., presumably because saving the world with superior archery skills can't happen if you've got a prior piano lesson.
For those ready to snatch a spot, the folks at Carver County Parks are one step ahead with an easy registration process—you can either shoot your details through their online platform or go Robin Hood-tech with the Carver County Parks app. It goes without saying, but space is as limited as a quiver of arrows in the midst of a fantasy battle, so haste is advised. And fret not about dragging your own bow and quiver around, as all the gear needed for the day is provided in-house, leaving less baggage for parents and more focus on the targets ahead for the kids.
So, to recap for the eager parents and bright-eyed archers-in-training: archery lessons are poised to take place at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park on Saturday, Oct. 4. Gearing up to shoot an arrow, literally and metaphorically, into the bullseye of fun and skill development, this event is designed to hit the mark with a variety of engaging activities and aims to eventually cater to youngsters eagerly looking to not only pick up a new hobby but to potentially also discover a newfound passion. It's time to notch, draw, and lose that registration before spots vanish like arrows in the sky.
