Lansdowne residents and commuters are gearing up for a bit of a detour as the BNSF Railway has announced a closure under the railway, impacting both roads and sidewalks between Murdoch Cutoff and the Shrewsbury Metro Station. According to the City of Shrewsbury official website, the shutdown will commence on September 30 at 6:00 a.m. and is expected to last until Friday, October 3 at 5:00 p.m., squeezing the routine flow of daily life through an inconvenient bottleneck.
During the closure, no traffic can slide under the railway's shadow and no pedestrian will tread on the now-inaccessible sidewalks, urging the public to plan alternate routes, the normalcy of their daily march usurped by the necessity of maintenance, and the City has expressed that the closure might extend beyond the anticipated period, leaving residents wondering if the start of the next business week will still see them rerouting their usual paths.
As traffic snarls are anticipated, commuters are urged to use adjacent east-west corridors and factor in additional travel time to their schedules particularly if they're aiming for the Shrewsbury–Lansdowne I-44 Metro Station. The City advises consideration of rideshare and carpooling options or opting for a drop-off at alternative metro stations to ease the temporary transit woes.
