A Largo woman has been charged with child neglect and drug possession after leaving her young child unattended in a hotel room at Microtel on Commercial Way in Spring Hill. According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called on Sunday, after a four-year-old was found alone in the hotel lobby.
Deputies arrived around 9:15 a.m. and found the child, who had been unsupervised for about 25 minutes. The mother, Cheyenne Mamagona, admitted she had stepped outside to smoke marijuana in her vehicle. A search of her vehicle found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and Mamagona, born January 22, 1996, does not have a medical marijuana card.
She was arrested and charged with child neglect, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was held on no bond for the child neglect charge. The Department of Children and Families took custody of the child.
