On Wednesday, the Las Cruces Police Department celebrated a fresh batch of officers with the graduation of 25 cadets from its 55th Academy, as reported by the Las Cruces Police Department. The event marked the addition of a group hailed for its diversity and impressive academic credentials, ready to join the ranks of LCPD's law enforcement team.
The graduates included a variety of individuals, such as Brandon Boudreaux, Christian Pritzel Castillo, and Elsie Velasco. The class boasted nine women, and a range of educational achievements, with eight cadets holding bachelor’s degrees in fields like criminal justice and business administration, two with master’s degrees, and two with associate’s degrees. Moreover, three were veterans, honorably discharged from the U.S. military, and two had experience as police service aides within the department.
LCPD's latest cohort represents the largest since 2022, and these new faces will soon be seen patrolling neighborhoods and maintaining safety. As part of their transition, the 2025 academy graduates are set to undertake a rigorous 17-week field training, working alongside seasoned officers across various shifts to polish their law enforcement skills.
