As tourism numbers decline in Las Vegas, the city is responding with a new campaign aimed at reinvigorating interest and visits. Coined the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” campaign, the strategy takes advantage of the city's iconic sign to draw visitors back. According to FOX5 Vegas, officials from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) have geared up to fight speculation that Las Vegas might be pricing itself out of the market.
In an interesting twist, the campaign includes a revamped rideshare pickup zone at Harry Reid International Airport, described as "Fabulous Pickups," set to launch on Monday, September 12. As reported by 8 News Now, the area will feature colorful lighting and plush seating, among other enhancements, aimed at enhancing visitors' arrival experience. Despite dropping by 12% in July, Steve Hill, LVCVA president, believes these initiatives are the beginning of a turnaround for the city's tourism.
The campaign, in its essence, highlights accessibility and promises to cater to all visitors. "Las Vegas was built on hospitality, and this campaign is our renewed promise that as our city grows, our foundation remains unchanged: We are committed to providing fabulous experiences for every visitor, at every price point," Steve Hill told FOX5 Vegas. The approach seems to aim at dissipating any perception that the city is only for the wealthy, attempting to reaffirm Las Vegas' longstanding reputation for broad appeal.
The effort to win back tourists also extends to major cities with significant outdoor advertising in New York's Times Square and Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, urging people to "Come to Fabulous Las Vegas." Meant to entice visitors to Las Vegas, the outdoor campaigns are set to debut on September 15, a display of confidence in the enduring allure of the city's entertainment offerings. The "Fabulous Tunnel Walk" during the Raiders' first home game, as mentioned by 8 News Now, will be another spectacle expected to draw attention back to the bright lights of Vegas.
A 60-second television commercial was launched during the NFL season opener between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, showcasing what awaits visitors. Through the ad, an office worker is depicted longing for a reprieve from everyday routines, with glimpses of famous Las Vegas attractions providing that promised escape. Hill captures the spirit of the campaign by saying, "‘Fabulous’ isn’t just a word on a sign—it’s our DNA, our identity, and our brand promise," reinforcing the message that Las Vegas is determined to remain a top destination for a wide range of travelers, as noted by 8 News Now.
