LaSharndra "Sharn" Barbarin, FACHE, has become a major player in healthcare leadership, taking up the mantle as the chief executive officer for Medical City Arlington as of June 2024. Previously at the helm of Medical City Lewisville since 2015, her tenure there was marked by a significant expansion in services and consistent recognition for safety and quality. As the City of Arlington reports, under her watch, the hospital achieved an “A” Leapfrog safety score for seven consecutive years, and it was also named "Best Hospital to Have a Baby" in Denton County.
With more than 25 years within the Medical City Healthcare system, Barbarin's ascent through the ranks tells of something like a tracked progress marked by grit and dedication. Starting as an administrative fellow, she became the COO at Medical City McKinney before progressing further to COO at Medical City Arlington, and eventually the CEO of Medical City Lewisville. Her leadership at Lewisville was distinguished by strategic collaborations with physicians, commitment to colleague engagement, and a driven, mission-forward approach to patient and family experience that has been lauded by colleagues and the community alike.
Erol Akdamar, FACHE, president of Medical City Healthcare, praised Barbarin's leadership skills. "Sharn is an inspiring leader with a proven track record of strategic leadership and focus on growth, physician collaboration, colleague engagement and a mission-driven commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for patients and families," Akdamar affirmed, per the City of Arlington. "I’m confident that Sharn will help lead Medical City Arlington to the next level of excellence."
