Lawton residents, mark your calendars! Greer Park, also known as KidZone, will celebrate its grand reopening on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The ribbon-cutting event, held with Parks and Recreation, marks the end of upgrades that began on March 4. Multimedia specialist Madalynn ElKouri shared the news, highlighting the improvements made to support play and community as part of the city’s KidsFirst initiative, according to the City of Lawton.
The initiative that for months kept swing sets and slides under wraps is focused on enhancing parks and recreational spaces, ensuring they are safe, accessible, and welcoming for children and their families. As reported by ElKouri, the newly refurbished park features ADA-compliant structures, enabling access for children regardless of their abilities. Added to the park's amenities are three swing sets, complete with shade coverings to protect the equipment and keep families cool in the throbbing heart of summer, as reported by the City of Lawton.
