The Lewisville Public Library is rolling out a series of activities that cater to all age groups, from teens to adults, with a mix of gaming, crafting, and the simple zen of coloring. Located at 1197 W. Main Street, the library presents itself as a community hub where books are just the beginning of the story, as per the City of Lewisville.
For the teenage crowd, there's a special after-hours event on the calendar. "Teen Game Night!" is slated to take place on Friday, September 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Bennett Children’s Wing. If gaming is your thing, you can bring your own handheld devices or dive into the library's collection that includes a Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2. Board games are on the table — literally. Just remember, if you're between 13 and 18, you'll need to snag a registration and permission form to join in.
Those looking for a more tranquil pastime can drop in during "Chill Coloring Week." From Tuesday to Thursday, Sept. 16-18, between 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and continuing Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19-20, until 4:30 p.m., The Hive Makerspace in the library transforms into a haven for coloring book enthusiasts. This activity is open to all; headphones are encouraged, but there's no need to book your spot, just show up ready to color outside the lines.
Younger patrons haven't been forgotten, either. "Tween Scene," designed for those aged 9-12, is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Bennett Program Room. The event description promises a blend of science, art, and technology, with this month's theme to be LEGO Challenges. Keen participants should make sure to get a free ticket to secure their spot in this creative and instructive hour of fun.
Crafty adults can look forward to the "Folded Fabric Pinecones" session, designed to teach attendees how to create a seasonal decoration without having to thread a needle. Offered on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Crawford Meeting Room will open its doors to those who have registered for this crafty endeavor. If this speaks to your DIY spirit, choose one session and register to join in on the autumnal arts.
