Outdoor enthusiasts and running aficionados, mark your calendars for an event that combines endurance and nature's beauty. The Camino De Los Muertos Trail Run is set for Nov. 1, beginning at the ungodly hour of 6 a.m., hosted within the scenic confines of the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area. As reported by the City of Lewisville, participants can look forward to traversing through a variety of terrains from "shady, deep forests with wildlife" to "open prairies with wildflowers," as they navigate the paths laid out for them.
The event, open to all skill levels, offers a selection of distances ranging from the hardcore 100k to a 1-Mile Youth Trail Run, with fees set accordingly from $135 to a mere $10 for the youngest participants. Those looking to savor the run at a gentler pace, or the more competitive types, both will find their stride along the well-marked trails surrounded, reportedly, by soothing “bird song, cool breezes, and clean air.” Before October 3, those who register will also receive a custom race shirt and other race swag to commemorate their participation.
According to an announcement by the City of Lewisville, registration is available online for interested parties. Besides the personal achievement of crossing the finish line, runners will be supporting the Friends of LLELA, a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the local environmental gem. Memberships for Friends of LLELA are available at $25, allowing individuals to contribute to ongoing community events, research, and restoration projects.
