Los Angeles firefighters quickly halted the spread of a grass fire in Westlake yesterday, preventing what could have been a serious threat to a nearby residential complex. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the blaze, which scorched a 50' x 50' area near 300 N Hoover St, was effectively contained by late afternoon.
Crews arrived on the scene to battle the slowly advancing fire as it crept uphill toward homes, as per the LAFD. However, they managed to stop the forward progress, and their work didn't end there.
Firefighters stayed to cool down hot spots and secure the area, ensuring the fire was completely subdued and posed no further hazard to the surrounding neighborhood, the LAFD stated.
