Early this morning, a male adult was tragically killed in a traffic accident involving a pedestrian and a car at the intersection of 7th Street and Federation Drive. According to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 3:00 a.m. following reports of an injury collision.
The officers and a bystander attempted to swiftly render aid to the unconscious male found on the roadway. The Long Beach Fire Department then transported him to a local hospital, where, sadly, he later died. The preliminary inquiry by police has disclosed that the man was riding a scooter outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit by an eastbound 2016 Hyundai Accent, as per the Long Beach Police Department. The 28-year-old driver from Laguna Beach remained at the scene and is said to have fully cooperated with the investigation.
Detectives have ruled out speed, distracted driving, and impairment as factors in this fatal incident.
