
A man was fatally shot yesterday evening in the Parkrose neighborhood of Northeast Portland. According to police, officers arrived at the intersection of Northeast 102nd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard at 11:04 p.m. and found the victim already succumbing to his injuries. Despite the quick response, emergency personnel were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Portland Police Bureau has since initiated a homicide investigation, and detectives were on-site to begin to piece together the events leading up to the fatal incident. The police have yet to release the identity of the victim, pending notification of next-of-kin and a statement from the Medical Examiner regarding the cause of death. Traffic disruptions ensued following the shooting, as Northeast 102nd Avenue was closed north of Northeast Sandy Boulevard to secure the area for investigation. The Portland Police Bureau has not yet disclosed if there are any suspects or leads. The absence of immediate information follows the typical protocol in such investigations to ensure integrity while detectives gather evidence and speak to potential witnesses.
