Early Friday morning in Hillsborough County, a violent altercation outside a Plant City home left a suspect hospitalized after he was shot while assaulting a woman. According to FOX 13 News, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) reported that the suspect, who was attacking a woman outside the residence, was shot by another man who intervened.
The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly tried to force entry into the home, threatening those inside. A man in the home, seeing a female victim come outside and begin to be physically assaulted by the suspect, fired several shots at him, as detailed by Tampa Bay 28. This incident highlights the dangers that can unfold within mere moments in a suburban neighborhood, where violence intrudes brutally.
After being wounded, the suspect managed to drive himself to South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City. There, deputies were able to make contact with the injured man. WFLA reports that he is currently undergoing surgery and is expected to survive his injuries.
